Target Audience Research - Primary Audience

When creating and marketing a film, it is vital to research your target audience. This is your primary source for feedback on your existing synopsis or even a source of information for what they like and dislike in the chosen genre. This enables you to create something tailored to your target audiences tastes as well as creating something that fills any gaps in the market.

We interviewed some people about their tastes and favourite genres.


We also compiled a mood-board to convey our target audience;

This mood-board shows a heavy concentration on the male audience, as our film predominantly includes action and a conspiracy plot typically enjoyed by men. We feel as though it will be enjoyed by males of all ages from 12 upwards in order for them to full understand the plot. Looking at the following statistics for the Bourne film we can see that it is mostly popular with males, with over half of the audience being between the ages of 18-29.
For the film The Fugitive we can see that just under half of the target audience is also males between the ages of 18 and 29. Therefore for our film this is going to be our target audience also.
